Quiver tip for rolling meat

You need a stiffish tip so that it don't absorb the barbel enquiries, and if too floppy, it will affect accurate casting and ability to cast.

just use the normal tip and feel for bites with your finger.
use braid and you will feel every bump knock and tremble, great fun.

Chris, point the rod tip where you think the bait is. Hold the line between the reel and first ring between your thumb and first finger. You should feel everything thats going on. Good Luck.

Not saying one particular way it right or wrong, but I don't point the the rod at the bait.
I preferring to allow a large bow to form in the line, which I find allows the bait to 'trundle' downstream in a straight line, as apposed to getting pulled off line on a tight line.

I think you need a day out with Ray on the Royalty, in fact I think we all could do with a day out with Ray, how about it Ray? I have a RW trundling rod, and I will even bring a tin of Spam :)

I'll bring a tin too! So just to confirm Ray, that's two tins of meat.

No tight line Steve, open bail arm, let the flow take the line/bait as needed. But each to their own.

That would be OK if you were actually wading I guess Derek, or fishing tight to the near bank, but what do you do to present a bait mid stream of further? Personally I can only hold a line by having a bow. I bet you lot up there have huge Bolagnaise (sp) type Barbel Rods, don't you?:)
