Purist Reels. Good Prices?

I have two of them Dave and they both have a ratchet.

Dave

Hi Dave,
Are you sure your're not mixing them up with the Shakespeare Eagle models ? The Eagles are decent reels for what you can get hold of them for on the bay these days and one of the strongest ratchets I've come across on a pin ( not really a trotting reel though )

I've never seen a Lincoln with a ratchet, just the brake system, that's why I sold mine on. No doubting it Dave but if you've got one with a ratchet instead of the brake system perhaps you could pm me some pics as I liked them apart from that and would probably get hold of one for the collection as I'm down to my last eight pins now so things are getting a bit desperate ! :D

Also for a budget end reel it has one of the most stable locking system on its stem when using the sidecast facility I've come across. I had a Lewtham quest which was wobbly at the stem, as was the updated stem which I had to pay for ( great paying for an update on a manufacturers inferior original design ain't it ! ). Never owned one but also seen a lot of mentions of play in the stem of the Mk1 Rolling Pins, again I believe the design was updated. The lincolns stem always seemed fairly firm, just that bloody brake thingy ! It really detracts from the pleasure of the fight for me when there is that play in the stem of some models with the sidecast facility.

Now I know where the mix up was......I was referring to the Shakespeare Lincolns in reply to David Halls post ( too many Daves on this forum ! ) :D

And yes, the Purists are very nice, smoother than a babys butt.
