Pssstt wanna see a Proper BIG CARP ?

Fish like that do nothing for me.

Some of the 60lb + carp over here have been photographed more times than Kim Kashardan. It is like those sea-side photos you used to see where people stuck their head through holes in a background. Same carp, same swim, different angler week in, week out.

There are some Barbel like that over here.

I've got zero interest in carp but I watched that. I thought it a nice tale, from an honest, nice bloke. Good on him.

lol and you dont think EXACTLY the same thing wouldnt happen with ANY Barbel given the same angling pressure ???

Fair play to him, it's not my thing but each to their own.

I'm not adverse to a bit of carp fishing but for me it's canals and rivers rather than stocked waters persay. I find the whole carp scene far too commercialised and I'm not interested in fish with names but as others have pointed out it has occurred in barbel fishing with the traveller being a good example.

Just have a look at this story to see what has been going on.

Thankfully the barbel circus are still small town acts. Nothing like the carp scene. That is organised crime. A couple of years ago someone in our area was fined €25,000 for smuggling carp from one water to another. I had been getting stopped and checked by the Gardes de Peche and it turned out that the guy they were after had a similar vehicle to mine.

Two hundred Euros??? He's missed a nought off the price 😀

I only fish rivers and public lakes. A couple of years ago I was on the plane coming back to Limoges and the chap sat next to me kept taking his mobile out and gazing adoringly at a photo of him with a 63lb pig. The guy only had an overnight bag. He got picked up at the airport, taken to the 3 acre lake which is on my Mole-Patrol route, stays in their bivvy for a week, eats their food, uses their tackle and bait then gets taken back to the airport. He does this around 6 times a year and for all that he pays at least €1,000 per week. While we were talking the River Vienne came into view as the plane banked. I pointed out of the window and said that's where I fish. He looked out and said "Where exactly?". I laughed and said; "All of it". And it only costs me €100 a year!

Different strokes.....................

I saw this yesterday and couldn’t get my head around the fact that his forearms weren’t long enough to be able to get the fish in a decent position to photograph .Not something id of even considered before but a nice problem to have.

Indeed a bit of a beast

You’ve gotta feel for his mate tho ,poor sod only managed a 70.
