Perch/Chub/Trout Spinning rod/reel combo?

Steve Sorrell

Hi all,
i'm after a rod/reel combo suited to fishing for all of the above. I was thinking something around 8'.
Any lure reccomendations would be handy too....!

I've been using a Berkley Lightning 8' rod with a fixed spool reel (Suveran) with braid mainly on my local canal and had plenty of chub & perch to the 2lb bracket using the Shakespeare Little S often when other lures fail.

Google Ultralight spinning would give you a good start

The drennan esox 7ft spinflex is quite a nice little spinning rod for use with small lures and spinners. One of the smaller 2500 or 3000 size shimanos with a front drag will be spot on with it. I have the 7ft spinflex, but use an old FS3000 with it.

Greys also do a nice little ultralite set up in the G-tec range.
