Penn Slammer reels

Has anyone purchased and used one recently? I'm after a review please if you have. Looking back through the forum search there were concerns about reliability from the Chinese made reels, some more recent thoughts about the quality of the reels would be appreciated. The comments seemed to mention the liveliner model, but I have the non liveliner, front drag version in mind.

Cheers.

I did have a 'live' problem with the Live liner 460. The small washer that holds the spool on to the spindle, somehow dislodged and fouled the spindle, resulting in the reel jamming. I am sure a small adaption could be made, other than that the reel is solid.

On the retrieve Darren, thankfully, I changed reels there and then and have never used it since, a confidence thing, the implications if it happened whilst playing a fish...well.

I have a Penn service guy in Pershore near me, he sent me a replacement washer but still looks flimsy, it does seem a bit of oversight in quality, but it could be fixed with an upgraded part I am sure.

I think I would have sought a refund on a new reel with a failure of that nature. Appreciate the reply.

Never been shy in exercising my consumer rights Darren, but to be fair I had it over the 12 months anyway, never really used it.
Joe Fletcher on here loves them, and uses them on the Lower Severn so must be robust, he might be able to give them a thumbs up?
