One for the cane enthusiasts

Lol how about cane Delkims decals!!!!

The Chairman on Friday

The real aficianados (like Myself) also have Y-fronts in Harris Tweed and well-whipped cane. Keeps us on the straight and narrow path to Total Angling Superiority, don'tcha you know.

As ever,

Horrible things, for the holier than thou poseur only. £41 and rising when i looked - most of my cane rods cost less than that.

I'll stick with my ungodly metal jobs, as I lose rod rests more often than France lose football matches...a lot more.

If anyone finds any bent efgeecos c.1979 on a river near them, they're probably mine.

Agreed. ghastly looking things and completely impracticle. I've also just got a cane rod for half that price, a good'n too. I doubt those rests will ever see action mind; I reckon they'd break first time out, even so, they do look as though they have been well made.

Me too - Andy Sliwa sent me one as a new season present. Well, mine's a cane bait drill, but close enough. The lobworms really don't like it up 'em.

I saw a chap recently, fishing at Marsh Farm near Godalming with cane rods, cane landing net and yes cane rod rests, I'm mean come on what a cane in the arse.

Still he was happy so what does it matter.:)

I wonder what other participator sports have this same fondness for retro kit? Perhaps there's a line of old codgers waiting in plus-fours, hickory shafted clubs in hand ready to tee-off a featherie ball at the royal and ancient right now. Or tennis perhaps; ash handled rackets all dressed up to the nines like Fred Perry on centre court. perhaps not. Maybe it's just us wierdos that fish.

Haydn

I like the sound of cane...makes me go all goose-pimply, especially when I am wearing my rubber waders.

I don't think I would use it for fishing though.....:D:D:D

Chears, Dave.

The only group that I could think of would be shooters. Some of their number have a penchant for using kit that many would believe to be only fit for the skip.
