Not being able to fish!

Ian Hugo Arnott

Senior Member
I have struggled to fish with various medical conditions over the years and won't bore you with the details. Having recently battled through sciatica and housemaid's knee, ( see Social Boards ), I am now unable to fish as I have an infected elbow and have to wear a sling. Sporting a crutch on the other arm. How do disabled anglers cope? I'd take my hat off to them if I could reach it!

Have cabin fever and am now a virtual angler!

As ever

Hugo, get your " Passion for Angling " videos/dvds out and enjoy. I never tire of watching these. A great healing stimulant, better than any medicine. :)

Derek and Steven,

Thank you for your suggestions. I shall put on Passion for Angling and watch the simulator pro.temp.

Regards

Simulated fishing in the rain? I don't think so. :p

I had an operation on an elbow Hugo, it put me out of fishing for almost a year and it was difficult to come to terms with. I got through it by accompanying my mates as they fished and photographing and filming them whilst they did it. This gave me something to do rather than sit there like the pork pie at a Jewish buffet, and I spent time afterwards sorting video and pictures etc.

When I was recovering from that and another long term illness, I fished very short trips, sometimes just an hour, but always at the best time of the day - dusk. I usually caught and found that short trips were often as productive as days spent waiting.................... and waiting.

I still tend to fish that way.

Good luck and I hope that your list of ailments shortens soon.

Hugo,

I sympathise with you, I'm knackered up with sciatica at the moment. Never mind the man up stuff till you have had a dose:rolleyes:

In the meantime just dream of the river pinn and report back;)
