Newark and District Piscatorial Federation

Hi all, snow on the ground and everything is frozen, so it's time to think about next season and warmer days. I have a question, does anyone fish any of the Newark and District Piscatorial Federation waters? Looking at their website it is good value for money but it will be a couple of hours drive from me which I don't mind doing if there is some reward. Currently I mainly fish the Notts Piscatorial stretch at Fiskerton but it is getting very popular as it seems to always be on TV or online (great video from Matt Hates), and it's a bloody long walk from the parking! Any advice is welcomed, let's look forward to the weather being kinder this season. Thanks Garry.

I'm a member, Garry. Very good value IMO. I've mainly fished East Stoke as I come up the A46. I'm also a member of Scunthorpe AA, so I can go to Ladypit or carry on to Sheldons or ES, as they're close together. Parking behind most pegs, it can get busy on there at times, and the better swims are obvious. Snaggy on the first few pegs on ES, as are a few on Sheldons, but the fish are there. Plenty of snag free swims further down ES. No night fishing, dawn to dusk only and you can't go on Sheldons before 6:30am I believe.

Night fishing is available on the power station stretch untill 10:30pm and you can bivvy up on Winthorpe and Crankley, if that's your thing. But as they are opposite A1 pits, it can be very congested. I've not fished any other of their sections, so can't give you any info on them.

One word of warning though. As you live more than 8 miles from Newark, you can only have an associate ticket. Get in early on the day the tickets go on sale, as they get snapped up very quickly. I think they'd all gone by around 11am last year. A few disappointed anglers missed out.

Good advice from Simon - fished it on a day ticket / guest ticket last year and managed to get an associate ticket this year. Only fished East Stoke and Sheldons - sometimes power station which is on a day ticket, so you can try before you buy. They sold out quick but they did open up again a little later in the year for more tickets. Lots of matches though - so you have to plan around them. I will hopefully get a ticket next season and will probably join either Notts or Scunthorpe.
