So I've finally got my new rod and pin ready for the new season.

Nice set up, great for Tench.
Will also be used for this. I have a couple of wonderful lakes near me. Both very, very old. In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woodland with ancient vegetation all the way round. Reed lined and some sandy shores.

Can wade vast areas as it's shallow. The only real difference between them is the size. One is 30 acres the other 60. A really good head of tench in both with the average size about 6lb but nothing massive. The big one also holds quality Rudd.

Standing in the middle of one of these lakes, in your waders fishing the waggler whilst spraying a bucket of maggot at the crack of dawn on a warm summers day is one of the greatest angling experience you could wish for. It's truly magical.

Sounds like you’re describing one of the Cheshire mere’s i used to fish back in the day. Used to wade out just short of a drop off and fish the waggler for BIG roach & the odd Tench…..totally immersed (in the atmosphere not the water!) & felt like heaven!
