Why is it we dont get more fishing programes on terrestrial tv .
Dont know if any body is aware of it ,

Their is a new series and I assume it's a new series starting tonight on Quest channel 38 freeveiw called Main Stream with Matt Hayes. Its a series about the River Ouse and starts at 18.30pm . Dont know if it's been seen on sky tv before .

You would of thought that with all the BBC , ITV and Channel 4 and all of the other tv channels their are now on freeveiw there would be more fishing on tv.
Why cant some one come up with a decent programe or series on fishing .

Mainstream is yonks old Joe!

Interesting watch though.

Titus,

You're probably old enough to have the original in stone tablets mucker:) :) :)

Because to a none angler, angling is a dull boring waste of time, effort and money.

Make an angling programme appealing to none anglers, you have shows like River Monsters or Nobson Green's insipid drivel, both have no bearing on our everyday exploits.

Then our sport is very streamed, with many having no interest in other genres. Who here would want to sit through endless footage of commercial fishery match fishing, specimen carp angling or fly fishing?
All of which are more popular than coarse angling on rivers.

Hi men,

I liked the Severn one best , and stayed in one of the cottages seen during the Hampton Lode section. Used it as a base to fish the Teme as well untill we found another cracking place to stay.

It is old , so old that there was even barbel on some of the Ouse parts !

The series about the Ouse is rubbish. They missed out the bit I fish and Lewes. Mat even tries to tell you that Newhaven is by the wash. Think they made the whole thing up.
Shaun of the dead

I've only seen 3 series:
Severn, Ouse and Shannon, I don't know if any more were ever made.
Personally I enjoyed them, a nice mix between fishing and local stuff and people. Given a chance to see them again (for free of course) yes I would.

I enjoyed watching them back in my early teens. Probably one of my favourite series by Matt, along with the great rod race

Yep old as dirt but worth watching if you havn't seen them, I must have seen them about 20 times, the most memorable programme for me was the Lower Severn at Wainlodes where Matt waded out on a low Severn and caught plenty of Hybrids on the float....I can fish there now na na na na na!! :p
