New big river rod

2.75..? Sounds excessive for the Thames to me for barbelling chaps..

As with an awful lot of folks that say similar, I can only guess that you see 2.75lb and think of a carp rod. The 2.75lb Fox barbel rods are quite different in action to a modern carp rod.
 
Time to bring this thread back to life and ask for some advice....I have aquired a nice pair of Wychwood Rogue 2lb TC rods with the Trent and Wye in mind. They seem pretty stiff and unforgiving after the Fox 1.75lb TC that I have been using. Yes, I think they will "chuck 3 or 4 oz feeders which the Fox's struggled with but do any users experience an above average of hook pulls with these rods ?
