Neoprene Boots

Hi men

Found out last night as I went out to a screaming buzzer that my lovely camo wellies have reached the end of the line , not a nice experience at midnight 😁. So , any deals out there , size 8 😉

If you mean neoprene lined wellies, take a look at Gumleaf. Based in Warwickshire, owned by a rugby fanatical chap called Guy Minshull, and made in the EU. Warm and comfortable, shaped so they're easy to get on and off, and to accommodate those with chunky calves (wide calf options). The best wellies I've used, and that includes some of the fancy names. Since discovering them I've felt like an evangelist for these boots, but other than being a happy customer I have no connection with the company.

Never tried Gumleaf - but their neoprene boot looks like it is a straight copy of the Aigle Parcours.

I use the latter and think they are fantastic. I wear them a lot (fishing, shooting and work) and get up to 3 years from a pair. I’m on about my 4th pair and have tried trading down to several other brands and they were all rubbish by comparison. Even Le Chameau (which are more expensive) aren’t as good as the Aigle boots.

I’m forever looking for cheap pairs as they are expensive at full retail. My current pair came from Decathlon and cost £90 which was a genuine bargain.

I guess most wellies look like, erm, wellies. But apart from having different seam profiles, different soles and the fact that neoprene lining only appears to be available in a Parcours with a zip... I guess they are a straight copy. 😆

Come on Kevin; if you are going to take the ‘Mick’ at least get your facts right…..My Parcours don’t have zips (I would never wear zipped wellies) and the style cues on the Gumleaf boots are almost certainly taken from the Parcours. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…

The Gumleaf boots may be excellent, I haven’t tried them. But the Parcours are in my experience fantastic boots.

Interesting conversation but Tim why not zipped wellies? I have been using Le Chameau boots for more than 30 years and and absol;utely love the fully zipped style.

Aigle paras are a firm favourite of mine, they are good to walk in, keep you warm and last for yonks!
The chamous are imo several rungs below the aigles.
I also use aigle rubber waders and they are by far the best thigh waders i've ever had.

‘Dirt Boot’ wellies are really good. I bought a pair about 10 years ago as i couldn’t afford the high end wellies ‘Grubs’ etc that i wanted at the time. I’ve used & abused them and they are still going strong!
Well made, comfortable and have outlasted all my mates expensive wellies!

I go through wellies like Mice go through fishing tackle. Cheap ones, expensive ones, it doesn't matter which. The most I've got out of a pair is about two years, and they were La Chameau. Even the wellies we are given at work have failed on the toe. I've had to screw the sole back to the upper. It grates me to pay top money for the "better" quality one, when I know I'll not be getting long out of them. Doesn't help having large feet, as the choice is limited somewhat.

Zips are one more thing to go wrong. More chance of the boots leaking; they cost more and as Alan Rose pointed out I don’t like the ‘image’.

Also the zip design presumably is to allow easier on/off foot access to the boot. I have skinny legs - so that isn’t an issue for me.

Hi men

Yes that's what I had , loved them as I rolled them down to sit next to my bed chair to slip into quickly , which I think could have shortened their life a bit 😄.

Must say very pleased with my 4 year old Dirt Boot Chest waders. So I'll be looking at their boots now.

Another vote for Aigle Parcors ISO 2 boots. Expensive but the best out there and both of my previous pairs, each lasted 10+ years and they got some hammer 👍🏻

Apparently Decathlon is currently the cheapest place to buy them. Get a welly remover too.

I know the aigle wellies could be a pain to pull off but i'm not sure that a welly remover is needed with the latter aigle wellies as they don't seem to be anything like as tightly fitted around your ankle.

I bought a new pair a couple of weeks back Ian and although I can remove them without, its easier for me to do so with a welly remover. Over time they will become easier to remove in my experience.

Fat calfs is probably my issue and I need to stop using the calf press in the gym 🙂

Another vote for Skellerup. I've been using their waders and a pair of matching safety boots for over a year now. I expect to get a pair of the more countrified Quattro Sport wellies at some point in the future. Good quality, especially for the price.
