There is a caravan touring site at Naburn Lock on River Ouse which has fishing. Looks like it's near the weir. Anyone info if there is barbel here...???

Hi Rob , years ago i used to fish this stretch , i watched the environmrnt agency electro fish it during a survey for salmon. I saw carp and pike to 30 lbs bream to 10 lbs Huge perch , roach and chub . there are barbel under the weir but not on that day ( it was 20 years ago ) the weir holds a huge amount of fish so its deffinatly worth a try , good luck !

Short answer Robert , yes there are Barbel in there , and as has been noted ,pretty much everything else to . Fair old tide here so the banks can get a bit muddy and slippy , take care ..

Thanks for infomation. That's the easy bit done...:), just got to hide a pair of 12ft rods + gear in caravan so wife cannot find it...:(. No room for food in fridge as well, be full of maggots & boillies...;)

Hello - I`m just down the road - it is possible to fish just below the weir apron on the concrete - £3 a session if the lock keepers bother- you might need to move for the occasional boat but I`ve never had to. Flow varies a lot with the tide , but possible to trot or leger. Had a very good bream catch once on small cubes of meat & they all fought really well in the flow! Chub about, never actually had a barbel but they are there I`m sure, as long as the seal hasn`t changed preference from pike. You`ll see salmon in June on the fish pass. Actually had a chinese mitten crab as well!
Good luck & hope it works out & there isn`t a summer flood - I don`t rate that like they would on the Teme or Avon.
