It’s a strange one this but bare with me as you’ll see it makes perfect sense to anyone wanting a top of the range fully customized centrepin for a fraction of the cost.
A year ago I had a pin specifically designed and built by Garry mills. I designed it completely to my own specifications and built it under Garry’s wing for long range trotting with heavy duty lines for serious fish. Big barbel, big chub, big bolo floats on powerful rivers.
The design was an absolute success but not without its problems along the way as some changes were made to obtain what is now in my opinion a masterpiece for specialist float fishing.
As part of the build, I wanted 2 identical spools to make the reel more versatile. I had lighter line fishing in mind for 1 of the spools but never actually used it for this as I have other lighter duty more suitable reels for lighter line stuff and I’ve really no need for the second spool which is brand new, I’ve never used it, it’s never even been bedded it in. That second spool cost me in excess of £320 alone and it’s just wasted.
I’m never selling the reel so any value it might add is completely irrelevant I’d rather unlock some cash out of it.
So…. Opportunity for someone here that buys this spool at half the price I paid for it.
Send it to Garry mills and simply ask him to put it on a back plate of your design. Quote my name and he will for sure remember the reel and build you a back plate. You end up with a very special completely 1 off pin for an absolute bargain. Less than the price of a production young’s pin all in.
Spool spec is as my own design which is:
18 line pillars solid brass nickel with special extra strong hand pressed dome rivets (rare time consuming process)
Arbor diameter of 98mm for fast float return and sized for accurate ease of putting line quantity on (150 turns - 50yards)
4.6inch diameter reel x 7/8 width is a fantastic dimension for its intended purpose.
Special handles fitted and shimmed to
reduce play with rubber inserts for retaining the line so no need for elastic bands etc.
6 spoke on front with solid back cut out flange for additional strength and dealing with the forces associated with heavy lines and barbel well into double figures.
Extract large spool lip rim for applying firm pressure to a powerful fish which works fantastic even in the rain.
The back plate that you order for it then becomes your design. Have any check type you want fitted and obviously any names or engravings done to suit. It really is an opportunity to get something very special and one off for a lot less brass.
All I’m asking is £170 for the spool and that includes the box and new rap around case.
The Back plate probably won’t be far off the same price depending on what you have done to it. The whole reel complete will be an absolute bargain compared to if it was bought complete from Garry.
