Moulds for lead making - Good Deal

If anyone makes their own leads , Dave Lumb ( DL Specialist Tackle) is selling quite a few different moulds for £6-7 - less than 1/2 price

A few there of interest to us barbel anglers and he does all the accessories as well such as feeder mesh, brass loops, swivels. I have a couple of his moulds already and they work well.
 
It’s a very good deal and ideal for making your own personal ones but I personally don’t like those die cast moulds very much. They don’t fit brilliantly together.
they sometimes leak if they get too hot and the final lead often needs a good fettle which if your doing loads is a ball ache.

mine are cnc machined moulds. Crazy expensive but flawless leads achieved.

his coatings are also on special offer. I’ve had afew of them ordered.

Yes get the odd one that’s not perfect but I put that down as much to the quality of the lead I’m using and for what I’m doing and the amount I can lose it’s not a problem
Fortunately I have a new supply of pure lead ingots so worth a punt at that cost
 
Yeah don’t get me wrong Paul they’ll make thousands of decent leads I’m sure they just don’t from my experience match the convenience of a machined mould. I’ve had die cast ones in the past and just found I was working with the finish for too long afterwards to get rid of burs and imperfections etc. not a problem if your using them yourself but if sell leads I will reject ones that don’t come out spot on and I don’t want to be filing them off too long. There’s nothing wrong with them mind.

Used one mould today and whilst it was perfect for own use agree a fair bit of fettling to get them anything like for resale
Biggest hassle I had was getting an accurate pour as I’ve lost my ladle 😖
 
Leads , pva and pellets
Every close season I stock up and think thats it , this lot will last me forever
And despite what seemed my shortest season ever - I need a load of leads casting , feeders that are left are battered and need to make some new ones and I can’t believe I’m planning a spend at Hinders...... again
Gawd help me if I get to fish beyond September 🤣
