"Micro bite alarm" on e bay.
Guy at work showed me one, quite sensative, very easy to fix on rod and take off, very light, not toooo loud, and only a fiver !
Not sure when I could use it but a good looking little gismo.

If you never use bite alarms this thread probarly not for you:rolleyes:

Yeah - bought one a couple of months ago, but yet to use it. I'm still trying to figure out what happens when a fish is hooked and you want to take the line off the roller (to stop the bleeping). Also the seating is a little wide for my rods....though I'd sort that out if I can overcome problem 1.

Could you not attach it so its a bit loose, so you could just roll it out the way?
Often wondered if it was worth getting a couple, for when I doze off on the bank!

Subject: Alarming alarums

Nowadays, nearing the "Big Nine-O" as I am, with my ears not what they were, I find myself increasingly having to fish in the company of a helper, namely, here in the Glorious Hamsters, a Lady Guide. So, I merely attach my mainline to the alarm [see pic] -

- that she discreetly has upon her person, keep a sharp eye [me old eyes are still excellent] on it, then, when the thing flies river-ward, I strike!

Caught me some nice ones, I can tell you.

As ever,
