Maruyku Feed Pellets?

John Cook

Senior Member
Afternoon to all who are not out on the riverbank:( I have read a couple of reports regarding Marukyu feed pellets supposedly the barbel love them, i believe that there are a couple of types ie protein and ocean anybody used them? any thoughts about them? I was thinking of picking up a couple of bags for my session tomorrow:) Be lucky.

Hiya Dave,

Yes i am in Harefield tomorrow i see they stock the entire range of Marukyu products, I noticed that the pellets were a bit different in make up and old Keith Arthur in the times was raving about them, dont seem like to many on here have tried them though, be lucky Dave.

Thanks Mark, maybe i will save my money then.......Anybody have any good alternatives then???

Hiya David,

Looking for something a little different in 3mm to 6mm hard feed pellets..

Andrew thank you for that link...I am looking at the feed pellets the favourable reports that i have seen for barbel are with the Nori pellets, any thoughts on them?

i think there is only one way to find out for sure john, good luck tomorrow.

Yes you are right Dave and yes i will try a couple of bags :)

The standard feed pellets break down very quickly, much faster than most. As i've said before the soft hooker pellets are like anglers plasticine - great fun while waiting for a bite.

Nori is the seaweed formula. I rate the Tanishi ( watersnail ) and the Kani ( crustacean ) formulas better for barbel. Tench love the Nori stuff!

Andrew do they do those types in the hard feed pellets? Just looked at theie website can only see Nori And Ocean hard feed pellets.

Not sure John, I've used the Kani boilies, Tanishi i've used in boilies and groundbaits. The hard feed ( fast breakdown ) pellets i used on the stillwaters during the close season were Nori and Protien.

Andrew i will try a bag each of them, when you say fast breakdown how long are we talking about in rivers???

Just don't think about what went into the successful feed as you lovingly return your well-cared-for barbel, John.................

John.

I have been looking at John at Harefields web site to see what he stocks, but he doesn't list 10% of what he has in the shop, lazy sod :D

I have been using the hinders elipse (medium, about 5mm square by 3mm thick) and they are pretty good. I was going to look at Ringers range, and Sonubaits...both of these are a bit different, having been formulated by match guys (admittedly originally for carp), but I hear good things about both.

They both do hard feed and softer hooker pellets of variouse sizes, and Sonubaits at least do elipses (don't get washed downstream so easily :p).

I know the green Sonubait pellets are superb for stillwater crucian fishing, but they may be a tad small and light for rivers. All are worth a try if different is what you want mate.

Cheers, Dave.

La-la-la...

[Remember that TV Ad of several years ago? Big, fat, perma-smiling American dope (with earmuffs) troughing himself at a big-time-cereal breakfast-table as his wife demanded a divorce...?]

"It isn't happening!" [he steadfastly maintained]

Wrong.

It is, fellas.

David,

I will have a good old look around Harefield Tackle tomorrow and read a few labels and see what takes my fancy i may even try some elipse pellets i have never used them before, they might stay where i put them :D
