Lucky reel?!

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Daiwa 2508 fixed spool reel secondhand from a well known maker of centrepins. Not only is the reel functionally superb, it also seems incredibly lucky! I've now used it on two occasions; on the first occasion it bagged up with carp, and today it bagged up with tench.

My question is..do you think there is such a thing as a lucky item of tackle? Or could some of the former owner's magic have rubbed off onto the reel?

I would like to think so, Tim. I have a long-owned, very old Aerial that catches everything and seems to out-fish my other reels, even if they're fishing a bait only a few feet from the one that it is fishing. Good old myth and superstition, long may they continue to prosper when it comes to fishing!

Wether its lucky or not Tim, I'd keep on using it when your having a good run like that:D Good luck mate;) Superstition is a big thing, especially if its giving you confidence:eek:

I do hope so Tim, I've bought a rod off my fishing pal which has caught him some cracking Barbel...I'll be using it on my local river this coming season...Hope it doesn't let me down !!...:D

Latest update...

Today I had a 3 hour tench fishing match sharing a swim with my mate. Our floats were only a couple of feet apart and we were both using the same deadly method with very similar tackle setups.

After about half an hour my mate had taken an early 2-0 lead and my faith in the lucky reel was beginning to evaporate. However, the reel was having none of it and rallied to make an impressive comeback and take glorious victory, winning 5-3 at the final whistle.
My faith was restored...
