Lower Severn Fishing Clubs

Christian Tyroll

Senior Member
Good afternoon all

I've always fancied a crack on the Lower Severn but until recently it's been too far away for me to ever seriously considering fishing.

I don't know anyone who fishes it and although I've done some googling I feel like I must still be missing some potential clubs.

Could anyone be kind enough to rattle off the clubs they can think of with fishing on the lower Severn?

Thank you

Christian

Hi Christian, others on here who fish it regularly can advise, but I’d say join BAA, you get so much for the money including the lower at Stoke Severn which I’ve fished and had some nice fish out of.

As Cliff said, BAA offers great value for money with not only Severn Stoke but water further down at Ripple, Birds Meadow.
Look on the post on here re Kempsey Anglers Association!
Barbel Socoety have the stretch opposite Kempsey at Pixhams Ferry.
Worcester AS have a stretch below Diglis Weir down to the confluence with the River Teme.
Hope that helps!

The Lower is now a very tough venue for Barbel. But if you fish for a all species it can provide good sport. As said BAA give you a lot from Birds Meadow Tewkesbury to Seven Stoke a beautiful venue but limited access because of not being maintained.
Kempsey has good safe pegs but limited rights now. This part of the river in the past produced good numbers of barbel being near the Teme confluence but well you know...
Kempsey has night fishing BAA not.
If I can help more pm me and will be happy to try and unravel a few of the questions you might have.

Hi Christian, as previously mentioned the BAA card is excellent value for money the only drawback is no night fishing on most stretches.
If you want to be able to night fish you could consider joining the Barbel Society which would then permit you to join their Pixham Ferry fishery where you can fish 24 hours per day.
This is situated downstream of Worcester, and above Upton on Severn on the opposite bank to Kempsey.
I am the fishery manager for this stretch so if you are interested pm me for details.

Thank you all, it sounds like the BAA ticket has what I'm after and for the amount I'll fish it is a no brainer.

Steven, thank you for letting me know about the Barbel Society stretch. If I'm enjoying it and want to do a few night sessions then I might get in touch next season.

Hopefully see some of you on the bank.
