Let the experts handle it

Just back from A&E where I needed an x-ray, local anaesthetic and a great deal of tugging to remove a barbed treble from my thumb. I'd driven home and used sidecutters to cut the split-ring and had a look on the internet for removal methods. Didn't fancy trying to do it myself so went to the hospital. Fortunately, it had missed the tendons so little damage caused (hopefully). So if you want to be gung-ho with a little DIY if you're in a similar position, just remember that you may be making things far worse than you think.

Ooòooooh that must have been painful hope they had there glasses on and removed it safely? Was it exit or entry removal?

Ouch!
That's exactly the reason I habitually crush the barbs on all hooks I use, far too much fishing time wasted removing barbed hooks from flesh, clothing etc.
An acquaintance once managed to get a size 8 longshank yellow dog knobbler stuck up his nose on a boat at Hanningfield. His not so good luck continued when his car wouldn't start and he had to get to hospital by train. Apparently the constantly wafting yellow maribou feathers caused much interest and amusement for his fellow passengers on the journey.
