Krill

Been reading a few things about Krill and was looking to give it a try. Seen that there are a few red krill groundbaits and also the Marukyu Range of bait/additives. A co were advertising in Anglers Mail that they were going to sell frozen krill at £6.99.

Anyone used Krill as a liquid or ground bait additive?

any success and which is the "best" product to add to my ground bait mix.

Darren Rosie - which one did you say you used???

cheers

yep, i used the sonubaits super krill powder, not sure how good it is to be honest.

Bag em Baits 'Krill Seaker' groundbait was a must in my mix a coupe of years ago, good stuff. Be carefull with Krill meal as it is very boyant on it's own - ie floats away! Used in a lot of boilie base mixes to make them less dense.

Andrew - what mix did you do - how much would you add to say 2kg of groundbait?

I use Pallatrax liquid krill ALOT !!
And rate it very highly !

Luke I see you are sponsored by Pallatrax?? Have you tried the dried krill powder? if so again how much would you add to 2kg of groundbait.

Finally to all - would you add Krill to hemp and halibut crush or would this over complicate the other ingredients/flavours?

Thanks

Hi men,

Chris , winter we use a pot of krill powder , drop a paste bait in a dip ( barbel pro in my case , but any dip will do ) , and drop it into the powder , good for buying a bite .

Chris - nothing too technical or fancy for me - just mixed a bag of Krill Seeker ( which is red ) with a bag of Swim Stim Black to darken it up - squirt of CSL - jobs a good un! :)

I make up my pva bags and dip them in krill liquid
And to answer the question,in 2kg of groundbait I'd probably add a 2/3 handfuls and then add good helping of the krill liquid !

Been using sticky baits krill range this last 12 months and the fish seem to really like it. Got me thinking though how much krill is actually in it? I doubt there is very much so I bought 1.5 kilo of pure krill powder from a specialist supplier, not cheap £15.

The smell is very different from krill angling baits and it doesn’t tend to mix up as a paste on its own so I’m using it 50% with krill pellets and mixed up with krill liquid and water. So far so good and looks promising for a good winter bait.

I gave SB krill a go on the Stour a couple of years ago and couldn’t get past the eels, ... they loved it!
So not selective enough for my barbel fishing unfortunately.:(

Krill and Shrimp meal are very low in density and because of this, levels are usually limited - unless the rest of the ingredients are comparatively 'heavy' - otherwise bait would tend to float.
Levels are usually 5 to 10% - in the Bfw B8 base mix it was around 6.5%.
Krill meal has been around for many years and inclusion in baits not that new.
Used to cost around £4/kg.
