Korum ruckbag, anyone use one?

I am thinking of investing in one of these and was wondering if any members used one, if so what is your opinion of it, which size would you recommend, I have the korum chair and find that very good, do the chair and bag work together as well as korum say, is it a comfortable combination to carry?

I have one, but rarely use it. It's a bit on the heavy side for my liking. I don't have the Korum chair, but have managed to strap a chair to the bag using velcro strapping.

Hi men,

Second season for this bag for me. Well made, and I really like it. My bits and bobs I need when I get into a swim are in the outside pockets , so as you lay it next to you there is no need to open the main compartment . My lightweight chair fits using the same hooks they supply for the chair, and that system works great. I take 2x stuff for me and Sue, and it all fits nice . After having one, I would buy another .

Ive got one and its great best bit of kit ive bought!
Loads of room for everthing! It sit on your back well and with thick padded straps make it very comfortable on long roaming walks!

cheers jamie

I have used one for almost a year now and have to say I wouldn't use anything else. You can use most chairs with the hooks as long as its the same size tubing. My JRC stalker chair and TFG Comfort Zone chair both work with it. I wouldn't advise getting the XL as it really is huge. However I would wait for the new regular size as it comes with another external pouch at the top which I wish I had.

Hi Mark, same as you I would usualy carry two lots of gear(for the boss) do you use the large or regular size ? I assume Chris you would only carry for one?

Yes so maybe the XL would suit you. It depends how much gear you take I suppose. Sometimes I can barely fill it but on most occasions I have it completely full.
They are bringing a new one out with a hard top surface so you can sort out your rigs etc. on it. Saw it in Anglers mail I think. Bit of a gimmick as the surface for the current one is quite adequate.

I have one with the Korum chair to go with it. Surprisingly comfortable to carry together, even over long distances. I've no intention of swapping to anything other than another Korum ruckbag when the original eventually gives up the ghost.
However, I don't think the bag makes as much sense without being in tandem with the Korum chair.

I don't know, I don't use it with a chair even though I have the option too. It still has the benefit of not falling over which is what it was designed for. And it is easy to get to things without having to take everything out of the bag.
I find using it with a chair slows packing up/setting up. Especially if you are a very mobile angler like myself. I prefer to carry my rod and landing net in one hand and chair (unhooking mat and bank sticks slotted into the underside of the chair) in the other. I used to have the the unhooking mat straps threaded through the shoulder straps of the ruck bag so that it cushioned between the ruckbag and your back. When you want something out of the main pocket you just flip the straps over.
One thing I don't like much about the ruckbag but it wouldn't deter me from getting another one is the small pockets on the inside are very prone to ripping off when you have a lot of gear inside but luckily i only use a couple of them.

Same with me a great bag and the strap adjustments are very good to ease carrying would not know what to do without it.

Another thumbs up for the ruckbag here as well.

I use it with a non-Korum chair as well and it works perfectly.

The outside pockets are great for items that you need to access quickly/often without the need to open the main compartment. Great when its tipping it down.

I like the straps and handles on this as well which all makes handling the ruckbag so much easier.

Reasonable bit of kit, but not as well made as it could be ! My 1st one split around the main compartment zip (replaced without quibble). The 2nd one, the webbing holding the hooks on split (I cut these off and just use bungees to attach a chair when I use one).
Well thought out, would just benefit from sturdier fixings i.e. Buckles etc and a chest strap. That said it is relatively cheap, but I would rather pay £10-15 extra from a slightly better made product.

Cracking bit of kit, either on its own or strapped to your back with the lightweight chair attached. I havent seen anything else yet to better it.

For a lighter and slimmer alternative have a look at the Angling Intelligence stalker ruck sack, a very nice and well designed bit of kit. I like the korum but always found it too big, then again I dont carry 4ltrs of cola lol.

I love mine but it is not the XL, have had it for coming on 2 years now. I am not an angler that bothers with complicated end rigs. It is stuffed to the gunnels but I have tackle in there that I could conceivably catch any freshwater UK species, and a few salt. No matter what type of fishing I am doing, I just pick up the bag and its all in there (excluding bait), even all my carp end gear is in there, method feeders and all, right down to tiny stick floats for trotting for roach, or huge piker floats. Really solves the problem of forgetting gear.
sure it makes it heavy but its good excercise!!

Long sessions with minimal swim movement, I use my Korum Ruckbag with a fishrite chair strapped to it.

When roving I find the standard Korum bait and bits bag to be more than adequate.

Thanks for your quick reply Paul, never thought about the weight, which bag do you prefer?

I have the smaller of the two Brian.
I rove a fair bit so tend to use the chub bits belt for all my bits, and use the pockets on my quiver also.
For long sessions which i rarely do, i'd probably take the ruckbag, as like what has been said already the outside pockets are handy.
