Korum quick release cam.

Has anyone used this item at all. Its a piece of kit that can go on the end of a landing net handle. Just purchased one online and would like any feedback please. If it's well built it will be handy for unhooking on the steep banks of the Severn and save dragging the handle up the bank.

Weren,t the originals made by Pro logic ?

I remember buying a clever claw, at the go fishing show at the NEC many years ago, it came
with a pro logic connector.

I've used the prologic ones and there not really upto the job. The korum ones feel heavy and look robust. Saying that I only had a brief look at one in the packet. I'll let you lads know what I think tomorrow if it arrives.

Do you think that these items are safe to use on landing nets? Would hate for my landing net to detatch whilst landing a nice barbel:eek:

I wouldn't use any prologic kit tbh. But you could question every piece of kit really John. Some people have caught barbel over 17lb on very light tackle by design. Others use very heavy gear on tidal rivers. Both could be condemned for not being safe or overgunning and having hook pulls. As I stated I will give a review once I receive the item.

Hi Jeff,

Not directing my reply directly at you im just picturing landing a nice barbel from a high banked swim and as i get the net a little way up the head drops off under the pressure:mad: Fishing for 17lb barbel on light tackle seems foolhardy( Though i dont know what you call light tackle) Though i will say that the Korum ones look a lot more sturdy than the pro logic ones or the ones you see on ebay etc, but are they really meant for keepnets or rod rest heads?

Get a JB landing net and handle.
Having landed and returned a fish shook the handle to dry the net off a bit.
Bleedin net fell off the handle into the river !

Got it back,,, but jeez thats quick release for you !!

from what ive seen the korum one works on a cam principle, similar to a fox bank stick and the prologic one with a sprung collar. I imagine all will wear over time so general care should be demonstrated but no more or less than that as when we put together the joints of our rods or tighten our landing net sections. Im guessing the only real problem will occur when something that is designed to separate quickly isn't assembled as it should be and does just that at the worst moment!

cam lok

not for me, there to wobbley ,

I bought a couple of cheapies off e bay which were very wobbly, finally settled on the Prologic which is by far the stiffest but NOT totally rigid. You have to make sure that the two parts "click" or else you would loose yer head !!:D
I'll be interested on the feedback about the Korum as their gear tends to be pretty reasonable normally.....

Hi guy's, received the korum quick release camlock today. Solid metal with a sturdy plastic cam entering a recess in the metal. Tried to pull it apart but couldn't. Got a friend, who is 6'6 a powerlifter and alledgly dead lifted over 300kgs(about 5 of me). Couldn't part it. Time may tell with wear but initial results of big Terry are good.

Well that sounds positive Jeff, is there any slack or wobble when the 2 parts are together?
