Korum Bait & Bits Bag alternative?

Neil Blood

Does anyone make an alternative open top bag with outer pockets, similar to the Korum Bait & Bits bag?

My original Korum bag is on its last legs and I refuse to buy the latest Kourm version, as its a backwards step in design, which falls under the Korum nonsense products category. Its a shame as the original XL bag is one of my best buys and most used items!

Maybe try and find a decent used one.

I found the early rod holdalls were excellent so got another on marketplace.

I have the old version of this bag and I’ve just looked at the most modern incarnation of it the progress version and I’m struggling to see where you find fault with it? The general design is the same. It’s got an extra pocket on the front and afew extra Velcro loops. What’s the issue with it.
£30 too. It’s giveaway.

I used a couple of the earlier Korum Bait and Bits bags to destruction. I then moved on to the Greys Prodigy On The Move Bags. I've used one to destruction and I'm using my second one currently. They discontinued those a few years back. I managed to get a final new old stock one about two years ago. I've not seen anything similar that I fancy since. If I can't get a Greys Prodigy Klip Lok tackle box in the bottom of the bag, it's no good to me.

I’ve started using my smaller version of kliploc box again
I do switch about between afew

Its design is really great and I love the little tubs as you know and it’s solid, but it’s a bulky heavy box.
When I plan and pack accordingly into a smaller lighter box i really do notice a huge difference with the extra space and reduced weight.

There’s just no really good options out there for the float anglers tackle imo. Everything is tailored towards carp carp carp 😡

I use the small Klip Lok in a Drennan Specialist Roving bag when I fish the river. The big Klip Lok goes in a Greys Prodigy On The Move bag when fishing stillwaters. I get set in my ways and don't like change much. I've got spares for the bags and spare boxes too.

The latest Korum bag doesn't look too bad. I could live without the bank stick loops and would rather see a more structured, solid looking, base. In a year or two, I may not have a choice.

It’s a very snug fit in the bottom of that drennan roving bag….. like made to fit exactly 😂
I must admit I really like the kliploc dedicated float box. It’s just spot on for a hand ful of floats and there’s two little adjustable sections for afew rubbers and olivettes. If i could get a spare one of those i would.
Wouldn’t mind finding afew more of those lego pegs too.
I occasionally use the rig box for a handful of pre tied hook lengths

Slot it in side on and one of the Greys rig board/float sleeves slots in nicely in front of it.

I've never used one of the Greys rig boards yet. IIRC, I've got one of the large ones and one of the mini ones somewhere.

If your willing to go down the custom route maybe try Army Andy on Facebook he specializes in bivvy repairs but makes all kinds of things to suit peoples needs.

The original XL version has a large outer back pocket and a smaller pocket on the front. So in addition to the main compartment, I can organise everything as I desire across the 3 storage areas.

The latest version has one front pocket only and for the life of me, I cant understand, why you would need 4 straps on the front of the pocket to attach bank sticks? Bank sticks go in my rod quiver and I suspect the weight of attached bank sticks will be an issue, when opening and closing the zipped pocket. And why remove the large outer back pocket?

When they launched this bag on Social Media, I tried to question its design with constructive feedback and found that one of Korum’s own high profile sponsored anglers agreed with me.

If you mean this box, it’s sitting in my spares cupboard doing nothing. Let me know if you want it.

I used to have a Greys Kliplok base, brilliantly designed & implemented. I miss the organisation but not the weight!
