Are Avon stretches even worth the cost of improving the access tracks?

Take Marcliff for example, I see very little coming out and match reports from around this stretch always look poor?

There's probably more to improve across all their venues than the organisation can afford?
Strange that as every time I fish Marlcliff I've caught plenty of chub . I've fished both stretches from the car park and roved from swim to with cheese paste catching in most swims ??

Also I've seen big shoals of silvers down above the weir ...

I really like it down there .

Hi Mark,
I haven’t fished here enough recently to judge the returns but it’s a sad reflection on the river if you can’t catch here. I used to return here for a ‘ confidence booster’ if I was struggling elsewhere.

Still plenty of fish at Marlcliff Graham , I fished it a lot last winter for chub and caught plenty .
A mate had 6 chub in a few hours wandering around with cheese paste.

I haven't renewed by BAA License after the fish kill on 2023.

I was walking the river (June 16th) at Wasperton - the LAA section was closed (along with every other club locally) but BAA still stayed open.

There was one guy fishing and the Bailiff was with him. Dead fish everywhere and the stench was rancid.

I had a chat with them and then asked politely "why are we still open when everywhere else is shut" to which the response was "we want to track what's being caught".

I replied "I can tell you you're not likely to catch anything and what you do catch you probably don't want to be handling".

The Bailiff then starting questioning me why I was on the river if I wasn't fishing and where my license was (which I didnt have on me) and rod license.

My top 3 worst BAA access tracks were, in no particular order, Salford Priors, Cotheridge and Grimley.
Salford priors now has a tarmac track to the river and is fantastic access ... no more Lunar landscape as was ...👍

Decent enough bloke. Only time will tell. Certainly gets things done.
Having met and spoken to the incoming secretary several times I would say you won't see any change in the club .

He's been very much involved in the running of the club for many years .

I'll leave it at that as no doubt I'd lose my BAA membership should I dare say any more .

As for 'decent enough bloke' .....

🙄

I had one or two issues over the years and finally decided to just go fishing and pretty much ignore things that annoyed me. It’s the only way to ‘ beat the system’, I guess.
