Is it just me?

Having dropped down to Worcestershire last week I thought I'd pop down to a few BAA stretches of the Teme. I was very surprised to see nobody fishing at all....broadwas, doddenham, cotheridge. And I popped by several times throughout the week.....to make sure the Talbot pubs ale was still all in order!
I don't think I've ever seen it so quiet. Weather obviously may play a part in this.
But it got me thinking.......has the carbelling syndrome taken over barbel fishing? Two rods....buzzers....bivvies?? Are small intimate rivers like the Teme, Anker, and Arrow now quiet?
I know what I prefer, how about you chaps?

i think it’s the weather , low water levels and the fish not feeding .
I for one had a go first weekend of the season, but i won’t have another go until we get a good drop of rain .

Seems the beachcasters are routinely out on the Yorkshire equivalent of the Teme - the Nidd.
Perhaps there is no other way these days for a lot of anglers.
Just counted & I last fished the Teme in 1976!
Powick weir was lovely then.

Kevin, its simple really, there are so few barbel left its not worth the effort unless you just want to sit and admire the surroundings, which I still do.

Has EA ever restocked the Teme with Barbel? It is obviously a low density Barbel river now. I was wondering if this might revitalise the river?

I’m currently fishing the Upper Severn in Wales, I need rope/dog spike, weed slasher and handsaw. No one is fishing it, bank access terrible. I’m 6’4” and some of the vegetation is taller then me! Very challenging but I love, it’s like having your own personal stretch of river!

I also bailiff a local stretch of the River Dane, there only appears to be me fishing it currently. I’m not complaining in respect to my own fishing.

I think there'd be great push-back against it Simon, as the 'powers that be' wouldn't approve of a non-native species being introduced into an SSSI.

They stocked them into the River Dane last year. Non-native species to the river and part of it is a SSSI.

Previously they’ve knocked back club Barbel stocking consents. Cant fathom the E.A decisions sometimes.
