Huge congratulations

What a whopper , and great to see a smiling angler rather than the baleful look from the captor staring at the fishes head which seems the fashion these days

What a great fish, congrats that man. It hasn't been eating my wifes cooking by any chance has it? It's either that or boilie belly :).

Cheers, Dave.

Thanks all,a double barbel always seems to give me a cheesy grin for days afterwards. My kids even ask why is dad so happy, which makes a change. As for the belly on said fish,I think she likes a bit of bait.

Just looked at the river record for the Derbyshire Derwent, and it's 17.04, so at 16.08 that is a special fish indeed Mark. Do you know if it is the same fish?

Cheers, Dave.

Definitely the same fish David, she's been out a few times this season. It appears she's a bit of a tart!

Hi Mark.
Been mixed fishing including large bags of roach many over 1lb to around 50lb total. Grayling on upper wye and some decent perch (see wye )

Probably back to meet place when we get bit of water and sw winds.

Thats a cracking fish you had.

Good angling Graham.I ventured down the river once again after our meeting.Managed 3 small Zander and 2 pike, the biggest of which gave me some heart in the mouth moments, until it surfaced.Thought it was the z of my dreams.ATB Graham

Might want to check your scales Mark, looks more like 26lb! Well done.

Cheers Rhys, did wonder myself. On the mat it literally had the proportions of a twenty pound carp. When I realised it was the big known fish I then knew it was around the 16 to 17lb mark, and the RH9000 were pretty accurate.

The old joke in Dad's Army that corporal Jones used to come out with when talking about pointy bits of steel was 'They don't like it up 'em'. Seems your fish takes a different view :D:D:D

Joking aside, that is a magnificent fish Mark, the fish of a lifetime which most barbel anglers can only dream of, including me. Damned well done young sir :)

Cheers, Dave.

Congratulations lovely fish

I hate these pics of people staring down looking miserable as sin they think it looks moody oh so 70`s
