How much would you put in the swim at this time of year on a river with a low head of Barbel or would you just not bother.

take some with you & fish it in another swim,if it works hey ho!.
i fished two rods yesterday,1 on the small 8mm pellet with 4mm in the feeder & the other on the meat. (as i usually start) only the meat rod showed signs of fish,
