Just wanted to say Hi to everyone and introduce myself. I've been fishing for years, mainly matches, but a bit earlier this year I decided to take advantage of having the Kennet only 5 minutes from my home. So I'm trying to catch barbel I've had a couple up to 8lb 7oz and I'm enjoying learning a new branch of the sport, to me that is.

I've already learned a few things from browsing the site and hope people don't mind if I pick their brains.

Welcome Billy. The Kennet's a lovely river, I will be fishing it myself quite a bit through the winter. Good luck.

Welcome to Barbel fishing Billy, and good, comprehensive knowledge of general coarse fishing for that matter! The guys on here seem to know everything there is to know about angling!! I have only trotted Barton court on the Kennet,but was well and truly bewitched.

Hi Billy, if you've already had success on the Kennet then I will be picking your brains, I seem able to make it appear a hard river!
