I don't have any experience of it but I reckon it's a gimmick mate. In order to generate any real amount of heat the battery would have to be huge and heavy. Think you'd be better of with a decent jacket and some ready-brek.

I've a feeling you're right Haydn but I was hoping to ditch the big thick coat, as what with my bulk and a coats, movement becomes a bit restricted.

Yeah I'll go along with that too. I fancy a Northface Ice, seem one in the camping shop and it looks the nuts. Far to nice for fishing though.

My neighbour has one of these and thinks that it is great. She wears it in the house to save on heating costs. I suppose that you can just plug it into the cigar lighter to charge it up on the way to your chosen venue.

Apparently, heated over trousers are also available, has anyone any experience of these? What would be useful would be some heated boots, I haven't found anything to keep my feet warm.

Never tried them, though I have tried the handwarmers. They are ok, not as good as a peacock or zippo handwarmer, but then you can't shove one of those into your boots.

Colin I was given a heated fleece gillet as a joke Christmas present last year, and it's actually really warm. The batteries on mine are quite bulky and heavy, but I'm pretty sure mine is a cheap version and the one in your link would be a lot better.

Obviously the reason I was looking at these jackets has eluded some; I don't want a big bulky coat no matter how good and warm it maybe.
I want to wear (top half) a t-shirt, sweat shirt, thin jacket and should it pee down, a Gore-tex army water proof over coat.
If the weather necessitates wearing a goose down filled coat, I'll be indoors, so a pointless purchase that would be.
