Harrison rods - Chimera 3 vs 2lb Torrix

Looking at treating myself to a pair of Harrison rods for next year, factory built and ordered through Walkers of Trowell.


What are the main differences between the Chimera 3 2.25lb and the Torrix 2lb?


I've heard the Chimera 3 is the one rod to rule them all, can be used in most situations from small leads on a little river all the way up to tidal Trent fishing with 6oz+, But can the Torrix handle as much lead / loaded feeder?


I do like the idea of 1 sets of rods to cover everything :)
 
Chalk and cheese really. The torrix is tippier and faster actioned, whereas the chimera 3 has a relatively stiff tip and more of a through action.

I can't say from experience if the torrix 2lb can handle 6oz feeders, but I doubt it. I've got the 12' 2.5 torrix and I really wouldnt want to be using feeders over 5oz, and in comparison the C3 is feels a more powerful rod, with an action better suited to barbel fishing.

Yes, I have Torrix 2lb, Chimera 3 and Torrix 2.5 and would agree with what has been said by Joe. However personally prefer the Torrix most of the time for my venues.

Can't comment on the torrix rods as I have the C3.
I am however very happy with my chimera rods. They are the only 2 rods I use from small streams like the Colne, to big rivers like the Thames.
Fun to play fish of all sizes and when you get a good one, they have a lot of power lower down the blank when needed.
Thoroughly recommended.
 
Putting these 2 rods for side by side comparison is exactly the reason why test curve figures are just a load of rubbish to judge a rod on.
There might be 1/4 of a lb difference on paper between them but it’s a country mile when you get a bend in them.
I wouldn’t use a chimera 3 with anything less than 3oz on in the same respect I wouldn’t put more than 4oz on the 2lb torrix.

Neither of these two rods are a do all rod.
Personally I don’t think such rods exist
