Harrison blank identification

Senior Member & Supporter
I bought a Harrison 12’ Barbel rod, 2lb tc, on eBay a while ago, it was listed as being a Torrix in the listing. I’ve just bought a 1.75 tc that I know is a Torrix but it has a different pattern on the blank . The 2lb has a longer cork handle and the guides are spaced slightly differently, but it’s a custom build whereas the 1.75 is a factory build.

Can anyone confirm what Harrison blank it is? I’ve attached some photos of it on its own and next to the 1.75 Torrix

I'm pretty sure that's a Chimera blank Dave judging by the carbon weave. A chimera blank will be slightly thinner in diameter to the Torrix, although not sure how that compares between rods of different test curves. The only 2lb Chimera blank I'm aware of is the CS12-2B blank which is described by Dave Lumb as:

The action of this rod is more like that of the CH-12SU (Chimera 3) than the other two twelve foot Chimera Specialists (Chimera #1 & #2). Suitable for barbel in lighter flows and a great method feeder rod for tench and bream.

Looks like a nice rod - you will have no trouble selling it, but you might struggle finding another to match it with.

What's the tip like ? Plain carbon/plain carbon with weave etc
As Joe said the Chimera is generally slimmer than the Torrix for corresponding test curve.
Other differences as well.
Different guide/ring spacings and length of cork handle not surprising.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all your help, I’d be happy if it was either.

The 2lb tc is roughly the same diameter as the 1.75, maybe slightly bigger

the 2lb has the weave all the way to the tip ring
