Hardys Conquest Centrepin

I am in the market for a new pair of c'pins and had narrowed it down to the Fred Crouch Jet.......until I saw these! I absolutely love the 'modern' look of them and wondered if anyone had used them? I want them so bad it hurts :D

There's already a thread running. Style over substance seems to be the general opinion of those who would know.

And not to mention a price tag of nearly three hundred sheets, which puts you well into Young's territory. Extend yourself a little more and you are into Chris Lythe's neighbourhood. Maybe neither are modern looking but I know which I, and most seasoned pin users would choose.

Mass-produced, over-priced ordure. Pity, as I once held Hardy Bros and their best efforts in no small degree of awe (long time ago, well before I was born, mind).

Scuppered!! But grateful for the advice. Thanks as always for your input guys. Don't want to be buying the wrong reels at that price!

Where is the Hardy made?

Id agree with dave if you fancy a good reel try Ray at adcock stanton, I bought a memorial reel from him in april and cannot comment highly enough on the high quality and service he provided me with throughout.

Nice touch George, I like it, very much. Never used an Adcock but would one day like to. They are certainly a good size, and the pins look to be in just about the right place on the spool: not to deep, not to shallow. I like the look of writing on the back-plate to. Unless getting a special, like yourself, I think I'd be inclined towards a second hand older model though, as the new ones are a touch pricey, £335.00 b.i.n on ebay. Nevertheless, nice reels.

I contacted Chris over this exact same reel, 18 months waiting time on it but worth the wait & certainly worth the money which is tucked away in a secret place so the mrs dont see it..lol

One of my dad's golden rules of life, which he has drilled into me from an early age: never, ever tell the missus how much you spend on tackle. If I was ever, in a rash moment of honesty, to let slip on just how much I've done over the years... You wouldn't wanna be there.
