Hardy Marksman Supero 15ft Float Rod

Nick Coulthurst

This rod is an ideal trotting rod for barbel and chub, with plenty of power in the blank. It’s in excellent condition and comes in a corduroy tube. The rod bag it comes in is not original though, it is for the 14ft version of this rod but it still works ok. Collection or could meet up near Newark/Lincoln when I next head over to the Trent. £275 Ono. I can email images but can’t load on the site as it says they are too big.

Sorry , I didn't see the supero but, I was blinkered, I'll keep looking for a 15ft specimen.

Just for reference Jim, appart from these changes the rods seem the same.....different guides, SICs on the specialist and Black Alcontites on the superos, different coloured whippings on the supero (nicer imo) , gold reel seat on the supero rather than the silver on the specialist rods. Then the bags changed, the specialists have ties on the bags and the velcro wraps on the superos....oh, no alloy ferrule stops on the superos also.

I have numerous models of both the specialist and the supero rods and like them both equally.

Yes , that's correct, I bought nearly every model when you could get them between 90 and 160 off eBay etc soon after release, and between myself and a friend nearly owned them all too , a long time ago now so my memory slips.

I may be wrong but I don’t think they did a 15ft specimen, 13ft was the longest.

I have the specialist 14 fters and they are rated to 8lb mono, same as the 13ft specimen, I think the 15 footer was rated to 6lb.
If i'm not mistaken Alec Hague has the brochures on them so he will be able to give the detailes on them.

I have the 15ft Marksman. As new.
And yes they are rated at 6lb bs line.

I also have the 14ft, rated at 8lb.

And as Nick says the 13ft was the only float rod that was produced as Specimen rather than Specialist

I was offered the Specialist 15ft when I bought the Supero 15ft and decided on the latter because it was more powerful and is a 3 piece (Specialist is a 4). The seller had the Hardy catalogue and I think the Supero was rated to 8lb line.
