It was every intent that I should start to-day on the float and then tackle up for a barbel (hopefully) as the sun set. But I was a gudgeon catching machine
nearly every cast in the weir run off resulted in one of these little gems, I even upped the hook to a 12 and used 3 maggots under a 7bb Avon float in the hope of a chub...but still they came, one after another until I couldn't see the float in the fading light...but last cast did turn up a nice 2lb ish chub which really put a gloss on the day.
Not all about gut wrenching scraps I guess, sometimes a bit of finesse is all I need
