Grayling rod

I won a day grayling fishing on the Nidd with Chris Lythe earlier in the year which I'm due to have soon. Float rod wise I own a 13' Shimano Technium Specialist float rod and a DAM 13' silver match rod and was wondering if the Shimano was overgunned and the DAM undergunned for my first real silver lady expedition. The silver match rod is a tip to middle action and the Shimano is fairly progressive but quite sensitive even for silvers and reasonable sized perch.

Stuart, the DAM 13' Match rod will be just fine, you will need to hold it standing all day if your are fishing as I would, so only the weight to be another consideration.

Hopefully, Chris would bring one of his lovely centre pins for you to have a play with......

I was hoping that myself Ian. I had a feel of one at the Barbel Society meeting were I won the day out. An outstanding piece of work and a true master of his craft, I just wish I could justify buying one ( well I could but the wife would probably kill me)

Stuart. I'd suggest using something long, light, soft and forgiving, if you want lots of control and not too many hook pulls!

if you want fun,attach 1 centrepin to a 3-4 or 5 weight fly rod...lol.
