I am always on the look out for new baits and ideas and Gel Baits keeps popping up.
Have any fellow BFW's been trying this new "Wonder Bait"??. Also any thoughts on it.

There's a review in latest Carp Talk online - difficult to use on hair and they dont last long once split.

I've only viewed them on the link above, but would think a middy meat screw would be an ideal way of presenting them on a hair. I've used the screws successfully with cooked mussels and bread crust so gel baits would seem a logical step.

Having had a play with them I would suggest that Gel Baits are perfect fish attractors but not the best hook baits. I would use them in a feeder on a river or maybe loose in stillwater but keep a pellet or boilie as your hookbait.

You can of course, fish them alongside your hooker in a snowman rig.

When I was talking about these baits with a good friend a couple of months ago he suggested making a jelly with commercial available gelatine sheets, flavour it with your favourite additives and then, and this is the clever bit, put your block end feeders in it.

When it sets you will have block end feeders full of flavoured jelly which will put a food signal into your swim without adding any food whatsoever into your swim.

Take a bow your Lordship.
