Gardner Trickster

I read Andrew's review with interest as I have a spool of 15lb Trickster given to me by my son....I'm interested to know what BS Andrew tested as I feel that the 15lb is too fine and may lead to wind knots and tangles !!.Would I be right in thinking that it was the 15lb BS looking at the picture with the test or was that just a promo picture...I must put my hands up and say that I am a fan of Gardner line in general, I've been using 10lb GT80 this year as my main line and also have a spool of 12lb Hydro Tuff for a particularly snaggy swim.......... Any comments please Andrew ?

It is the 15lb version i use Bill. I use it as part of a combi link where the braided part of my hooklink is only 3 to 4" long and so do not suffer tangles. I wouldn't use a long hooklink made from a soft uncoated braid as such materials are not very abrasion resistant - a coated braid or the combi link to a good mono would be better, and less prone to tangles. If your waters are not particularly rocky and you wish to use a long soft braided hooklink you could add a small PVA stick to the hook which will help prevent tangles on the cast. I wouldn't say the 15lb version is overly thin when compared to other similar products such as Kryston's Supa Nova.

Thanks for your comments Andrew, appreciated...I've been using coated hooklinks stripped a couple of inches from the hook as are quite a few others on my water...I'm looking to change my presentation a little to be different !!! I'll make up a couple of combi's and play with them to see what I think....Thanks again...:)

Just ordered a spool of the brown to use with combi rigs, its sounds good plus its a nice price...

Nigel,

No matey its just available in the 15,20,25bs, in green or brown....the 15 looks good to me though, gonna try it on some fluoro combi's..

Been using this in the 25lb BS, its very good, and a lot better than the Korda supernatural I did use.
