Free to good home

Courtesy of cold fingers and a meeting with the garage floor I have surplus to requirements a spool for an Avon Crown Centrepin. I managed to break the shoe when it dropped but the spool is fine. Prior to dropping the damn thing it spun nice and free. If anyone has a use for this it’s yours for the cost of postage.

Kevin could you let me know the size I may have a back plate for you with a foot.

Hi Kevin, just noticed Clives message, if he has a suitable back plate for your spool it would be a good fix for you , maybe you could still allow me to have the broken back plate with its bits still intact ?

Regards

David .

Hi David, I will let you know how we progress. Didn’t realise you live in Mkt Rasen, I lived in Castor until my late teens and have fond memories of the area.

👍

Many thanks, we moved to South Willingham in August last year , its a lot different to where we were previously , a much gentler countryside.. We used to live up very near the Pennine Way on the Moors.

Its a bit cold here, but back there they still have about a foot of snow 🥶🥶

Unfortunately mines a 3.5" bugger

Trust me you can get a lot of snow up there around Castor and Tealby when it bows a north easterly. My father’s lorry broke down on Castor high street many years ago and in the time recovery came they couldn’t find it in the snow drifts. It stayed there for a week! RAF Binbrook, now Brookenby used to lose more flying hours than any uk base due to the weather. Where do intend doing your river fishing?

As far as I can tell its a bit limited to either the Witham, for general course fishing or the Trent for Barbel, both are within about 30 miles. I will miss the Yorkshire and Lancs rivers tbh, but there are lots of stillwaters around which will take up a bit of time.

I really dont think I will be doing much flying though, had my wings clipped years ago. 🤭

The Bain from Horncastle to conningsby is home to some decent chub. The old brick pits behind Duckworths used to have some cracking tench and there are lots of small similar waters dotted around the top of wolds.
