Free spirit HI S stepped up 1.75

Hi anyone out there use this rod ? I understand Free Spirit are discontinuing this Blank ?
I have the 2lb Barbel version which I like a lot.wouldnt think there is much difference,is there ?

Thought I'd replied to this question weeks ago :) I've got, and regularly use, both ... the 2lb "Barbel" version for snag/flood sessions, and the 1.75 SU for general Mid-Severn trips. I'd say that the SU feels faster and lighter, but both will bend down to the corks. The SU's are probably my fave rod ever, but still love my 20th Century Nash Tri-Tips :)

Yeah I’ve used one. They are a lovely rod but very much on the lighter side of the stated TC. I haven’t actually measured it but I’d guess closer to 1.5lb rather than 1.75lb.
Only a measurement would confirm mind.

Change the tip ring and put a decent reel seat and a decent bit of cork on it and you’d have a cracking little rod out of it 🤣

A guy I know is selling a pair of Barbel Seekers , 11’ and 12’ 1.75 tc
they both come with the extra quiver tip top.( no quiver tips)
what would you pay for them ? They are in very good condition .

Adam,
Do you know if the 12ft is a later model with single leg guides on the tip section and is the reel seat 16mm or 18mm? A mate could be interested in either 11ft or 12ft.
Cheers
Bill

Hi Bill ,
I have not seen them in the flesh yet ,he lives good distance from me.
I don’t know if it’s possible to get the actual quiver tips to fit these rods or not ?
he is sending me some photos, I would imagine they are the older version as he has had them a while.

Hi Adam,
Not worried about quiver tips thanks. I’ve let my mate know that there might be the possibility of 11 & 12 footers and he’s ears perked up! When you get the pictures would appreciate a butchers. I can email you if you would prefer to send them that way rather than post on BFW. There’s no 100% commitment I’m afraid but a definite interest.
Regards
Bill

Ok Bill ,will do 👍 assuming there in good condition what do you think they would be worth ? As he hasn’t gave me a price yet .

I do want another barbel seeker. If you don't want it, Adam, I am interested. Price wise, depending on the condition, I would say 150-250?

Thanks for the pictures Adam. I’ve kicked it into my mates side of the court. They are the older models with rings with “feet” at both ends 🤣 so that’s good. I’ll keep you posted but if your pal puts a price up please shout. New the 12fts are over 300. Personally I would think 130/150 per rod but I’m well out of selling used gear.

The 11 foot seeker su is a beautiful rod.

Hi Bill , don't forget they come with an extra top ,today's price would be £300 + for the rod and £90 for the extra top .
I will get a price for you and PM you

Terry is correct, 12ft, twin leg rings and the early maroon whippings. For one of the two rods I have the quiver top.

PM for you Adam but in short my mate has withdrawn interest I’m afraid! Sorry to mess you about.
Regards
Bill
