ive just been and bought myself a fly fishing kit, now the rod is fine, looks good feels good has a nice action but the reel has come already loaded but its loaded with the line coming off the top, now back winding doesnt feel right to me, it feels odd, is this how the line has to be loaded or can it be put on the normal way so we can reel in forward?, i know theres not a lot of reeling in to be done but when its neccessary i at least want to be comfortable doing it.
cheers

Jerry,

The line on all mine comes off the bottom, this is the way they are generally designed to be used so unless you have bought a specifically left handed reel it should not be a problem to re-wind it the right way...........

It is probably set up for the US market.....

you had me worried then, had to go and check, its definately right handed, looks like i,ve found something to do for the next hr.
thanks mate

Jerry if you are right handed you will probably hold your rod in your right hand. Your reel needs to have the handle on the left hand side for your left hand. Your line should then come off the bottom and turning the handle forward should bring the line in. Hope this helps and enjoy your fly fishing. If you are new to the game can I recommend you treat yourself to a casting lesson before you start.

Jerry,

Whilst you have the line off the spool give it a good stretch out, this should reduce twists and kinks. I hope you fall in love with fly fishing!

Cheers

Good shout Adam, just don't go mad, I snapped a 5 weight line recently stretching it out!!
