Fishing on the Wye at Byford

Hello,

Looking at booking a place on the Wye @ Byford in July, can anyone shed any light on the head of barbel this far up? I have only ever fished further down and think there is a limit to how far upstream holds a good stock?

Any pointers much appreciated,

Carey

there's plenty of good fishing and barbel in that area, are you looking at staying in one of the riverside cottages that are around there?

Fished the Byford area a couple of times at the start of a season and always caught fish but dependant on the river levels really. Start of this season the river dropped 15 - 18" over the week and the fishing got harder as the week went on. Had mainly chub with the odd barbel - quite a few barbel still coming out in the faster streaming water (that I couldn't get access to fish) so still around. Some areas can be difficult to get to the water!
