Fishing Kings Weir

Hi all, haven't been out for Barbel since last summer! (Have hardly fished at all to be honest) So have jumped at the chance of fishing the Lea at Kings Weir this weekend, will be taking some maggots (as I think the temperatures will be low this week) and some garlic spam. I have also been advised that boilie wrapped in paste is a good bet, but have no idea which to use, so any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I did find a couple of old posts, but they seemed more about the BS and what rights they did/didn't have with regard to the fishery. Thanks in advance

Garry, as the weekend is 5 days away and the forecast looks to be improving towards the end of the week I would stay optimistic. The water temperature can rise 4 or 5F within a 24 hour spell so it doesn't take long for conditions to improve dramatically and we all know what effect that can have when barbel haven't fed for a while. I cannot advise on bait on said venue but I'm sure maggots and a good fishmeal boilie like Source will suffice

Good luck

Thanks guys, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view it!) I'm committed for the weekend so will give it a go! The tip on the boilies is helpful, thanks John, such a huge choice for someone who rarely fishes, I'll let you know how it goes.

Unfortunately my plans for the weekend have been scuppered! My van failed it's MOT today and won't be fixed & re-tested in time, was really looking forward to it too!
