Fish Kill

Sounds like a fairly weak excuse. I'm sure an angling club of fish farm would take the fish and sort out the necessary health checks prior to moving. So much for them looking after the wildlife.
Also probably a case of anglers being our own worst enemy by leaving tackle for wildlife to get caught on.

Hi men,

I see this on Facebook , there are silly people around , most of them walk amongst us , worrying really .

"It's become very run down and there are far too many fish in there to support any kind of ecosystem," she admitted.

These are the sort of people who control our local councils.

Another example of that nut job Mayor Ferguson's war on the people of Bristol. This an anti angling move, no doubt about it. If anything the pool should be improved and kids encouraged to use the facilities.
That's what happens when you have a Mayor that has the support of the Green Party to keep him in office.

Last year, the local Neighbourhood Partnership voted to ban fishing at St George's Park lake to stop wildlife being harmed by fishing line and hooks.

Sounds like the slippery slope for us chaps,...assuming that they also regard fish as "wildlife"
The article didn't say why the ban hadn't been a success , perhaps they just relied on a sign or two.
Have seen fish moved on my old local aminity waters to prevent angling in the past, so it's not a unique case,..just a sign of the times.
The reason given for my local lake was stopping anti social behaviour from a small minority of local anglers who regarded it as their own private venue.
It didn't occur to those individuals that most of us had cut our teeth on that water as kids and that the local council had its fair share of anti's.
The fish weren't culled though which is why this particular case has made the news I guess.
Just another example of some regarding what's below the waterline as less important than what's above.

Cracking video Phil :) such a shame if the fish are removed/culled. The old friends of the park biddy brought back memories of the swan lady on the River Severn.:mad::mad:

A well-presented video which unfortunately is self-incriminating. With respect to the lady concerned, would she have spoken to the angler if he hadn't fished in the out of bounds area? Breaking the rule so publicly was always asking for trouble. I can imagine how many anglers targeting the fish cruising the margins of the island would end up pulling for a break from the overhanging branches following a misjudged cast, leaving baited hooks and line for the bird life to get attached to. If you are going to make such a film and not abide by the rules you are at risk of giving all anglers a bad name.

Regarding the fish cull...what a waste. :(

That video is hardly '' Passion for Angling '' is it ! Crazy beats on the soundtrack ... The lad did a fair job at arguing his point but rules is rules . Fish cull , well that's just plain bonkers ....

Not somewhere I'd want to fish but good for locals and kids I suppose, though with the amount of wild fowl it's no surprise there are problems. Culling them seems a bit extreme when they could just ban fishing and police it better.

Guesting.....a common problem amongst carp anglers, it's like an underground cult to catch out of bounds. He's a knob for doing it regardless of his stance on the benefits of angling.....shot angling in the foot on that lake

Fish really need to change their image, apart from Anglers, no one seems to think they are classed as "wildlife" and no one seem to care if thousands die through pollution or poaching. They need better spin doctors
