Fish-in 2013

David Traynor

Senior Member
Hi, I am a new member and was wondering if there is going to be any fish-ins this year? And if so where abouts would they be held?

Many thanks Dave

Hello David , welcome to the forum . Up here in the Northern lands ,we have an annual fish in on the Yorkshire Ouse . This is a well established get together now in it's 8th year , the Ousemeister Barbel challenge . Usually held late September / early October , folks get together and fish with a chance of winning the much coveted Ousemeister barbel shield for the biggest barbel , or the even more coveted Tommy Ruffe challenge trophy for the biggest Ruffe . It's a good day out , come along if you can , details will be posted nearer the time

I know in the past the fish in has been held on the Severn, and Holt Fleet was a venue, now that would be nice and local, and seeing it is the Heart Of England it would be pretty much on the doorstep of anyone, or perhaps Severn Stoke, miles of bank to fish in nice surroundings, and a Pub at the end of the lane.

Not any old pub but the Rose & Crown that made national news in the December flood when the customers had to abandon the cheese and biscuit course on Christmas Day as the Severn was an unwelcome guest.

Mind you that might be a better option to the landlord than hordes of mud covered scruffy coarse types

Oh and the fishing is pretty good.

Ant c/w nice barbel and plastic camo strides:)

The Ousemeister challange is an excellent event, missed last year but will definately be on this years. Nice stretch of river with some good lads, then a good laugh in the pub later, excellent day out;)

Don't encourage that Ribble bunch Mike....they will probably be poncing gear all day, 'cos they had choices to make...pies/gear?...pies/gear?...pies/gear?...:p:D:p

Cheers, Dave.

Very good David :D Once they get settled in their swims , pies in hand they are manageable . In the pub , different story .....

If its covered in fur, or wool, it,ll be shot and ate. Tell ya missus to wear something plastic. :D

Something plastic...will they not think it's something shrink wrapped and eat it anyway, especially if it's more than ten minutes after the pies have run out and the panic has set in :p

Cheers, Dave.
