Fishing club action on poachers

Has any fishing club successfully prosecuted individuals for poaching, i.e. people who fish club waters but carry EA rod licence.

You can PM replys is you wish

i know the tring anglers got some fellas arrested for poaching carp out of the GU canal.

Thames Valley Police can confirm that two Romanian males were arrested in the early hours of the 27th September 2009 on suspicion of theft after it was alleged that they were fishing on the Grand Union Canal in Marsworth without a licence and stealing Carp. This is an on-going investigation and further enquiries are currently being conducted. If anyone saw anything suspicious on that evening please contact PC Levens on 08458 505 505 who is investigating this incident. PC Levens said "These arrests are living proof of the success that can be achieved by working together in partnership. Illegal fishing and stealing from the canals & reservoirs causes many problems to the natural environment. I hope that these arrests send a strong message to anyone intending to steal from these locations that they will be dealt with robustly and prosecuted."

That reads to me as if they did not have a rod licence.

We have got prople fishing with a rod licence but are not members of the club.

Most do leave when asked in good manner but they just keep coming back

Game clubs seem to be hotter on this
I do know that a club in the NE, Bishop Auckland & DAC, has and does prosecute under the theft act, theft of amenity.
From what I've heard those prosecuted don't even need to have taken a fish, just that they are illegally taking the benefit provided for a paying club member.
I'm sure Simon Jackson solicitors Angling Law could advise.
My club used to use them when we were members of NAFAC, not sure what the situation is with the ATr; seems a club has also to be a member of Fish Legal before the ATr will move. NAFAC used to provide a great service to it's members, sadly no more.
