Feeder/quiver

As some of you know, I am in the market for a feeder rod, having never owned one but feeling the need to have one.

I've already done a thread asking for recommendations - this isn't about that, but whilst looking around at recs from that thread, I notice that feeder and quivertip now seem to be interchangeable titles. Is that actually the case?

Back "in the day" when I was last fishing (in the 90s), the two were very different, and no experienced angler in their right mind would have used a fragile quivertip to sling out a feeder in heavy water and, vice versa, no small leger angler would use a chunky (in relative terms) feeder rod.

Of course, there are still rods specifically sold as feeders and quivertips, but I'm seeing an awful lot of rods sold as "feeder/quivertip" but without specific tips for each task. So is it the case that those rods really are interchangeable for both feeder and quivertip fishing, or is it just businesses/sellers being a bit rubbish with their descriptions?

(I still haven't settled on a rod yet...)

Let the quiver tip gather dust and stick with the solid top

Steve.

I don't know what you planned for your new rod.

I wanted one for chub, roach and a bit of commercial stuff.

I settled on a Drennan series 7. Avon/Quiver.

Qt for the chub and roach, especially in winter when bites can be subtle.
Avon top for carpus, tench and even the odd bit of perching.

Theres quite a range of lengths and qt options.

Does the job I wanted it for.

I have the same rod and thoroughly recommend it.

My version based on a Harrison 1.25 - pretty good - even though I say so myself :)

Bobs doing that one for £65 Graham

Got a few avon/quiver rods, the quiver section and tips are all still brand new. :)

Sorry to digress.
Looking for something in the shed the other day, i came across a feeder rod i forgot i had. Abu Garcia Equalizer 8'6" Wand. Thinnest lightest rod ive ever owned. 3 tips, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, and 1 1/2 oz. :) I can feel a Gudgeon, Stickleback day coming on soon. :D
