favourite way to use meat

Or tomato sauce Richard...

Ask my missus...I don't remember....

Seriously though, like most people these days (I think?) I hair rig it. Obviously, those into rolling don't, and they bury the hook. I am not 100% convinced that the shape, or whether it is 'ragged up' or not makes any difference. I think the fish are far less bothered about shape/ragged edges than anglers, but it won't do any harm to do it if it gives you confidence . Most of the successful meat fishers I know use it straight out of the tin, cut to a convenient size/shape with a knife. I prefer to use a rectangle cut from the corner of the tin, so that an end and a side have the tougher outer skin, so that the stop doesn't pull through so easily. Simple, but works for me.

Some also prefer to chop the meat and fry the pieces in various spices, curry or whatever. Again, this toughens the skin, and is repute to be a good change bait for when the standard stuff 'blows'. Again, not something I have dabbled in yet, although an angler I have a great deal of respect for does something of the sort, if/when he uses meat on the Loddon I think, so I may giver it a go for that reason alone.

Thousands of options, and preparing the latest surefire winner gives us something to do to keep our hopes up, if nothing else...and it beats the hell out of decorating :p

Cheers, Dave.

Straight on the hook for me these days though I do occasionally hair rig when getting lots of rattles without hook-ups. It doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm up to a size 4 hook these days.

Cut straight from the tin in an approximate cube, baiting needle through the middle of one face of the cube, pull the hook through, turn the hook through 90 degrees and bury in the meat.

Hair rig unless fishing weedy or saggy swims.

I either cube or make up some 'pellet' shapes in different sizes with meat punches.

I like to loose feed some small cubes and off cuts.

Haven't tried the Fox Meat Stops but these are doing well for me.

cut a lump off and stick it on the hook, done.
if the meat is soft.stick a blade of grass in the bend and bury the hook.

thanks to a post i read on here some time ago, i use inch and a half cubes mounted on a paperclip coil hair rigged to a size 8.... altho i find the texture and shape unimportant - i get just as few bites either way :D

I think I posted about the coils, I use a piece off a length of wire I found and picked up during a fishing trip, The same wire gets used for plants in the summer and flower arranging by my Mrs.
