Hi,
Can anybody reccomend a venue in France where we can go as a family? Obviously I'll do some fishing but need activities for the missus and the little one?

Adrian, can recommend the Dordoigne region, have a google lots of info available, look to base yourself near Sarlat.
 
What do you need to entertain the kids? A lot of camp sites and gites have pools and you can hire bikes in many places including the Plans d'Eau which often have bike trails and lake beaches.
