EFRA Select Committee

Graham Elliott

Senior Member & Supporter
I have been frustrated with the responses and lack of action from the EA on incidences reported on "out of season river fishing" over the past few years.

I have asked, under the "Freedom of Information Act," the Select Committee responsible for Monitoring its efficiency, for the ratio of reports received by the EA on same, and the actions generated leading to positive outcomes resulting in convictions.

If you have any concerns that should be raised

Be interesting what they have to say G.

I tried to report some 'regular' poaching on a river last week, but after siting on hold for 25 mins I ended up txting a contact at the EA and doing it that way......

I do hope the AT/EA's 'Special Bailiff Scheme' works, and is rolled out throughout the UK.

I seem to remember being told that they do not have the staff to respond to individual incidents but if the same area is reported on more than 3 times in a short period then they will target that area. I think it is written into their constitution or whatever you call it that they must respond once trigger levels have been reached.

The other thing is to ask for an incident number whenever you report something and then follow up on it at a later date.
